Battleground Tours aims for victory with Fig Creative

Here at Fig we’re privileged to work alongside a wide variety of different companies and we can’t help but become immersed in their worlds. From bakeries to midwifery (both deal with buns in ovens right?), from rock climbing to dry stone walling, we’ve certainly learnt a lot about many things.

One of our most interesting projects this year has been working alongside Glossop-based Nigel Dunkerley as he set up his new business Battleground Tours (www.battlegroundtours.co.uk) which specialises in guided tours of the battlegrounds of the First and Second World Wars.

Nigel approached Fig when starting up and we worked closely with him to develop his brand. The branding for the new business was striking but sympathetic, something which has been reflected throughout his stationery, business cards, adverts and website.

The website in particular is very comprehensive and was an on-going project for a few months as the tours were developed. Optimising a secure online booking system as well as ensuring that as a member of the Travel Trust Association, that their information adhered to their own particular brand guidelines kept the Fig Creative design studio busy. Ensuring the tone of the site remained respectful yet interesting, and with just enough information to leave visitors wanting more was very skilfully done, thanks to Nigel’s vast military history knowledge and Fig’s design team.

Throughout the whole process, both Fig and Nigel were conscious of making the Battleground Tours site as inviting as possible, all the while capturing the historical backstories and sensitive tone. Fig created a site which is very easy to navigate and simply laid out, charged full of historical detail and arresting imagery, with a sophisticated booking system ensuring peace of mind for customers.

The website has recently gone live and Nigel has been actively promoting the first trip – to The Ypres Salient in February – by blogging and advertising in local titles such as Glossop Life.

Fig wishes Nigel every success and can’t wait to hear how the first trip goes.
